Did you know ?
Jamie Fraser Is he a historical figure or just a fictional character imagined by Diana Gabaldon for Outlander?
Outlander Season 5 will arrive on our screens on February 16, 2020, as Jamie Fraser and his wife Claire find themselves facing new challenges.
But was the Highlander a real person and did he exist during the Jacobite Uprising?
What if it was a real person – or just a fictional character created by author Diana Gabaldon .
Jamie is the Laird of Lallybroch, but he is forced to relinquish his title and leave his family due to his role in the Jacobite Rebellion.
He is also forced to flee his native Scotland to the New World (America) to escape those who seek him.
But then, did Jamie Fraser actually exist in history or just in Outlander ?
Several events described in Outlander’s history, such as the Battle of Culloden, have occurred.
There are also a number of actual historical figures depicted in Outlander, such as The Duke of Sandringham, Bonnie Prince Charlie, and King Louis XV.
Jamie’s character is inspired by the story …
Diana Gabaldon had confided to National Geographic : “I was reading a research book called The Prince in the Heather, by Eric Linklater, which described what happened after Culloden.
It was reported that after the battle 19 wounded Jacobite officers took refuge in the farm next to the field.
There they spent two days with their injuries.
At the end of this period, they were taken away and shot, with the exception of one man, a Fraser from Master de Lovet’s regiment, who survived the massacre.
And I thought if I expected Jamie to survive Culloden, then his last name should be Fraser.
Here are the secrets behind Jamie Fraser’s character in Outlander . While waiting for the return of the series, watch all the funko pops on this site;)
